Mycopunk Oxythane: Location and Enemies

Oxythane Breach is a story mission set inside Oxythane R&D Hub 42, a weapons facility on New Atlas that has been overrun. It unlocks at player level 6, it pays an Exotic reward plus Strange Components, and it is the mission that introduces the Oxythane enemy tag.

The briefing, in the game's own voice: "before you stands a monument to the gift of flight, our bright future as a society, and continent-clearing missile bombardments. I humbly present: Oxythane research and development hub number 42!"

Oxythane Breach: Escalation

The same hub, a harder variant. Escalation keeps the location and the enemy roster but raises the threat and adds modifiers. Both variants share the oxybreach internal name prefix, which is why datamined lists sometimes show them as one entry.

Oxythane enemies

Three enemy entries carry the Oxythane tag, and all three are long-range threats:

Enemy Tier Tags Notes
Missile Pod Grunt Grunt Gunner, Oxythane 1 arm, 15.5% arm chance, 6.75 move speed
Missilehead Brute Gunner, Oxythane 50% overclock chance, 5.5 move speed
Devastator Abomination Gunner, Oxythane 2.0 shell HP, 3 legs, 3.75 move speed

Missilehead's 50% overclock chance is the highest in the game by a factor of five. In practice the Oxythane missions are the ones where overclocked enemies are the norm rather than the exception.

Strange Components and the ticket

Oxythane Breach pays Strange Components, which feed the Oxythane side of crafting, and the facility drops Oxythane Tickets. Tickets are spent on the wheel in the hub; the ticket caps at 999.

Getting through the hub

The hub is built around sightlines. Missile Pod Grunts and Missileheads both fire from the far end of the long corridors, and the Devastator walks the central hall, so the first thing worth doing on entering is clearing the catwalks rather than pushing the floor. The three Oxythane enemies share the Gunner tag, which means their arms are the breakable parts and the arm drop chance on the Missile Pod Grunt sits at 15.5%, the highest of the three.

Because the facility is a designed level rather than an open region, spawns do not respawn behind you. A crew that clears slowly still ends the mission with the same enemy count as one that rushes, which makes Oxythane Breach the calmest place in the game to test a new weapon on real targets before taking it into an open map where the swarm keeps coming.

Why the mission matters

Oxythane Breach is the first place the game puts you against a designed interior with fixed spawns rather than an open region. It is also the only story mission that pays an Exotic outright, which makes it the standard first stop for a new save at level 6.
