Mycopunk Employees: All Five Classes

Mycopunk has five playable employees: Wrangler, Bruiser, Scrapper and Glider are available from the start, and the Mycologist unlocks by playing the Expedition Alpha story mission. Each one has a mobility ability, a utility ability, its own upgrade tree and its own skin pool, and none of their upgrades mix with weapon upgrades.

Quick answer

Every Mycopunk employee with mobility and utility abilities, skin counts, unlock conditions, and what each upgrade tree actually changes.

Employee roster

Employee Role Mobility ability Utility ability Unlock Skins
Wrangler Mobility / control Air Dash Rocket Lasso Starter 15
Bruiser Tank / shield Nose Dive Shield Projector Starter 16
Scrapper Verticality Jetpack Grapple Pole Starter 16
Glider Support / flight Wingsuit Rocket Salvo Starter 16
Mycologist Damage over time Fungal Skewer Sporelift Expedition Alpha 11

Four employees are unlocked from the first launch. There is no level gate, no purchase and no rotation — the roster is the same on day one as it is at level 30, apart from the Mycologist.

Wrangler

Wrangler's mobility is Air Dash: jump while airborne to dash forward. The utility is the Rocket Lasso, which pulls objects toward you or pulls you toward them — including a broken player part, which is how the character ends up in the support role despite a movement kit.

The Wrangler tree leans on slide mechanics: Deadeye lets you aim while sliding, Landing Roll turns a landing into a roll, and Tumbleweed extends the slide and raises reload speed when you deal damage. Its Rare tier includes lasso refunds and ammo continuity, so the class reads as a mobility character that keeps its gun loaded.

Bruiser

Bruiser's mobility is Nose Dive: jump while airborne to slam into the ground with a shockwave that damages and launches nearby targets. The utility is the Shield Projector, a hard-light barrier that can also stagger enemies and bounce projectiles back.

The tree is built around the shield: Backboost fires you backward when you activate it, Blast Chamber hits allies with the shield, and the Epic and Exotic tiers turn the projector into a weapon. It is the closest thing to a tank in a game with no taunt.

Scrapper

Scrapper's mobility is the Jetpack: hold jump to gain height. The utility is the Grapple Pole, which plants a pole the whole team can grapple to — the only team-wide traversal tool in the game.

The tree splits between fuel and tether: Fuel Rations and Burst Release change how the jetpack spends fuel, Tether Battery and Wireless Extenders change the grapple, and Coil Springs and Deliberate Mistake are the two nodes that make the character feel different in a fight.

Glider

Glider's mobility is the Wingsuit: hold jump to fly forward. The utility is Rocket Salvo, a lock-on volley that damages enemies and heals allies in the same strike.

The tree is the most support-oriented of the four starter characters: Nanite Breeding increases the healing, Rearm Mechanism cuts the cooldown, Elemental Tips makes salvo rockets apply an element, and Efficient Storage trades one rocket's damage for an extra rocket. Patch 2.0.2 fixed its Star Fuel upgrade, which had been reducing fly duration when infused with a larger pattern.

Mycologist

The 1.0 addition. Mobility is the Fungal Skewer, a fungal spear pulled from the ground that immobilizes enemies and consumes infection for extra damage; the utility is Sporelift, which launches the character and builds infection.

Her passive is the reason she plays differently from the other four: infection builds in combat, when taking damage and when using Sporelift, and when the bar fills it eats your max health. She also has an Amalgamation-exclusive character upgrade, the only employee-specific boss drop in the game. Full details are on the {L("mycopunk-mycologist")} page.

Skins

Every employee has a skin pool: Wrangler 15, Bruiser 16, Scrapper 16, Glider 16, Mycologist 11. Skins are cosmetic, come from Fulfillments and mission rewards, and can be worn with hats added in 1.0.

FAQ

How many employees are in Mycopunk?

Five. Four are available from the start; the Mycologist unlocks through Expedition Alpha.

Which employee is best?

This wiki does not rank classes — the answer depends on the mission and the grid. What is factual: Wrangler and Scrapper are the two mobility picks, Bruiser is the only defensive kit, Glider is the only healer, and Mycologist is the only damage-over-time kit.

Can you switch employees between missions?

Yes. Employee choice is per mission, not per save, and each employee keeps its own upgrade tree.

For the rest of the reference set, the enemy database lists every body and breakable part, and the resources guide explains where each map material drops.

Sources

Threat, mission, element and resource values were read from the Mycopunk 1.0 build and cross-checked against the official patch notes and the Steam store page. Where a rule is only described in player-written notes, the Steam guide index is the second source.
