Mycopunk Ouroboros: Mission Chain and Loot Table

Ouroboros is Mycopunk's roguelike mode: you drop in with all upgrades temporarily removed, clear rooms, and rebuild from temporary nodes you find on the way. It unlocks at player level 5, it has no side objectives, and it ends with a boss room at 28.

Quick answer

How Ouroboros works in Mycopunk: level 5 unlock, 28 rooms, boss every four rooms, Blitz variant, Constellation drop table and temporary upgrades.

How Ouroboros works

Field Value
Type Roguelike Operation
Unlock Player level 5
Category Roguelike
Extraction at end Yes
Side objectives None
Rejoinable Yes
Designed levels Yes
Boss cadence Every 4 rooms
Final boss room 28

The mode strips your grid on entry and hands you temporary nodes instead. Because the nodes are temporary, Ouroboros is where the game's stacking and pattern-inheritance mechanics get used properly: almost everything can be stacked inside a run, with diminishing returns applied to keep four copies of the same node from breaking it.

Room and reward structure

  • A boss appears every four rooms
  • Bosses come from the abomination and boss pools, including Amalgamation and Devastator
  • Waves are drawn from fixed groups: CrawlerWave, BruteWaveSmall, ExploderWave, FlyerWave, GruntWave, PixieWave, OverclockedWave, ShieldWave, TurretWave
  • On completion you keep GATS, Contraband GATS and one random upgrade

The Constellation drops are the long-term prize:

Room Min threat Drop chance Reward
29 4 20% Constellation
57 4 15% Constellation
57 5 11% Constellation
57 6 9% Constellation
85 6 8% Constellation
113 6 7% Constellation

Cosmetic Constellations are the reason deep runs exist. Everything below room 29 pays upgrades; the cosmetics start after you beat the final boss room.

Ouroboros: Blitz

A shorter variant that ends after 13 rooms instead of 28. Upgrade drops are doubled and equip automatically, and a boss appears every three rooms instead of four.

Blitz is the mode for testing a grid quickly: you get the same stacking rules in a third of the time, and the doubled drop rate means you can see how a node combination behaves before committing to a full run.

Pattern inheritance inside a run

Two nodes only really make sense here: Interim Manager and Fake ID. Both reroll your existing upgrades without changing their patterns, which inside Ouroboros effectively lets you keep a grid shape and swap its effects as the run progresses.

That is also why Ouroboros is the best place to learn pattern infusion: a bad shape costs you a run, not a permanent node.

Cleansing

Ouroboros is where cleansing costs matter — Oddity nodes cost 280 to cleanse, Contraband costs 0, and everything below those tiers is cheap enough to throw away. A run that fills its grid with Standard nodes early will need to cleanse to make room for anything good.

FAQ

What level do you unlock Ouroboros in Mycopunk?

Player level 5. It becomes selectable at the same level that opens the first mission unlock tier.

How many rooms does Ouroboros have?

28 rooms in a full run, with a boss every four. The Blitz variant ends at 13 with a boss every three.

Do you keep Ouroboros upgrades?

No. Upgrades found inside a run are temporary. You keep GATS, Contraband GATS and the single random upgrade the run pays out on completion.

If you are planning what to open next, the upgrade grids explained page covers node shapes and rarity, while the threat levels page shows what the harder tiers actually pay.
